 El añejamiento de cigarros es un proceso que permite que los tabacos maduren y desarrollen sus sabores y aromas de manera más compleja. Durante este tiempo, las hojas de tabaco pasan por una transformación química que suaviza su sabor y potencia sus matices. 

Igual que el vino mejora con los años, los cigarros también se enriquecen con el paso del tiempo. Esa es una de las misiones del ‘aging room’ o cuarto de añejamiento. Se trata de la sala o la bodega en la que se casan las humedades de los distintos tabacos que forman un cigarro. Es decir, se aúnan las humedades de los tabacos de la capa, la tripa y el capote de un puro.

 **¿Para qué sirve?**

1. **Mejora del Sabor:** Los cigarros añejos suelen tener un perfil de sabor más equilibrado y rico.

2. **Suavidad:** La agresividad de algunos tabacos se reduce, ofreciendo una experiencia más placentera.

3. **Desarrollo de Aromas:** Se intensifican las notas sutiles, haciendo cada calada única.

En cuanto al tiempo que deben permanecer los cigarros en el ‘aging room’, depende del tipo de puro del que se trate. Los cigarros Premium pueden estar en esta sala entre uno y dos meses, mientras que la estancia de los súper Premium puede oscilar entre los seis meses y el año.
